GENDER TRAVEL
2014
Durational performance
During two days, seven hours a day, the visitors of MNCARS were invited to discuss questions around gender identity and sexual orientation. These conversations were then used as material for improvised dances and songs in the museum space.
“In Gender Travel I incarnated an ever-questioning presence living in the borders. The piece is based on an approach on identity as a transitory place: identity as territory (with its frontiers, inclusion and exclusion) and identity as transition (an emigrating gender).”
A piece by Pablo Lilienfeld
Created for Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.
Commissioned by Performing Gender project
